Julia Louis-Dreyfus' new movie You Hurt My Feelings has received a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Directed by Nicole Holofcener, the film follows a novelist (Louis-Dreyfus), whose longstanding marriage is suddenly thrown into turmoil when she hears her husband's honest opinion of her new book.

The movie has earned rave reviews and debuted with a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, a feat that very few films achieve. It's since dropped to 97% with one so-called 'rotten' review, but even that's a 6.9/10.

Below are some of the verdicts from critics:

AV Club

"Throughout, Holofcener offers sharp observations on marriage, professional success, and insecurities that sometimes become self-fulfilling prophecies, doing so with both an earnest (sometimes laugh out loud) sense of humor and a keenly observant eye.

Anyone who’s ever told a white lie to lift up a loved one or maintained a seemingly innocent secret longer than necessary in the name of supportiveness will feel a little less alone in the world thanks to Holofcener’s deftness in articulating the quietest corners of the human spirit."

Variety

"You Hurt My Feelings stays true to the droll casualness of its title. It’s not a major Holofcener movie; it’s closer to a lively and digressive short story. Yet it’s compelling to see Holofcener merge the fates of all her characters through a grand tweak of the piety of positivity."

The Daily Beast

"Ultimately, You Hurt My Feelings works as well as it does because Louis-Dreyfus is as witty, charming and likable as ever.

Endearingly zany, as demonstrated by a late robbery that brings out her maternal protectiveness, Beth is a character perfectly tailored to Louis-Dreyfus’ skills. She’s the undisputed main attraction of Holofcener’s film, which is otherwise content to be nothing more than—to borrow another apparently verboten descriptor—cute."

Paste Magazine

"You Hurt My Feelings is a film built for parents, ones whispering to each other about the work Louis-Dreyfus has had done before being silenced by her own undercutting joke about her immovable forehead. It’s inoffensive, often warm, and unabashedly adult—for that market, it doesn’t need much more going for it.

"But it’s also so strong in its creation of this convivial atmosphere (somewhere between High Maintenance and a more palatable episode of Girls) that its eventual laser focus on its lesson feels like a minor betrayal."
