The New Post’s Joel Sherman reports the deal is worth $9.995 million. Torres was last arbitration-eligible Yankee to sign on the dotted line. He had asked for $10.2 million in arbitration. The Yankees offered him $9.7 million.

As The Athletic’s Brendan Kuty noted, “With the Gleyber Torres agreement, the Yankees still haven’t been to arbitration since 2017, when they were at odds w/ Dellin Betances.”

The 26-year-old Torres, a two-time All-Star, enjoyed a bit of a renaissance in 2022, hitting .257 with 24 home runs.

Howeve it’s possible Torres doesn’t finish the 2023 season in the Bronx.

Trading Torres, who’s under team control through 2024, would help clear a middle infield logjam, with top prospects Anthony Volpe and Oswald Peraza knocking on the door.

The Yankees would prefer to trade third baseman Josh Donaldson, who is owed $29 million this year.

The 37-year-old Donaldson, a three-time All-Star and the 2015 American League MVP, struggled at the plate in his first season with New York. He hit .222 with 15 home runs.

The Yankees also are said to be interested in trading outfielder Aaron Hicks, who is owed a total of $30.5 million over the next three seasons.
