High water causes road closures in BR area

Heavy rain and high water led to several road closures throughout the Baton Rouge area on Sunday, Jan. 29.

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Heavy rain and high water have led to several road closures throughout the Baton Rouge area on Sunday, Jan. 29. A lot of roads remain closed as of Monday, Jan. 30.

Officials in East Baton Rouge Parish released the below list of closures:

  • 100-299 Scott Barr
  • 1110 E Buchanan
  • 3014 Alaska
  • 740 W Chimes
  • 800-899 Van Buren Street
  • Alaska St. between Chimes and Aster St.
  • Alvin Dark/Tigerland
  • Bluebonnet/Highland
  • Highland/W Grant
  • Hundred Oaks Overpass near Perkins
  • Spruce Lane near Enchanted Forrest
  • Staring/Burbank

The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office released the below list of closures. The roads are considered impassable unless noted.

  • Macarthur/Black Mud – passable by pk from 15823 Black Mud and East; West of this location is still impassable
  • Highland St. south of Violet St.
  • Perkins Rd. north of Arnold Rd. – high water but passable – high water signs
  • Thibodeaux Rd. off of Perkins Rd. – high water signs and barricades
  • Winchester Ln.
  • Sandra Dr.
  • Luke Ln.
  • Maxwell Dr.
  • Spring Ranch Rd. (from airplane back)
  • Black Mud Rd. – barricades between ball field and Sheri’s
  • Whit Holden Rd.
  • Joe May – near 24095 Joe May passable one lane
  • Joe May – high water signs for near 24540 Joe May (closer to Walker S end)
  • Joe May @ Clyde Cockerham DPW notified for High Water signs
  • Black Mud Rd. / Lockhart Ln. – barricades
  • Buddy Ellis / Evangeline Trace Blvd. –passable for one vehicle at a time in the middle of the roadway
  • Spiller’s Ranch DPW notified for barricades
  • Several areas north of 26700 block of Fire Tower Rd.
  • Sonya Dr. closer to Florida Blvd. end - passable by truck/SUV

  • River Rd/Montgomery

  • John Martin Ln (off of Pete’s Hwy)
  • Jason Dr – passable by truck/SUV
  • 4-H Club Rd north of Springwood

WALKER

  • Pendarvis/Three Lakes
  • Pleasant Ridge/Brian Park
  • Hartman Rd – high water but still passable
  • Keith St
  • Travis St
  • Clark St
  • Magnolia Dr
  • Colyell Dr
  • Red Oak Dr
  • Pendarvis Ln from Florida to Red Oak Ln
  • Pleasant Ridge Dr
  • Brian Park Dr
