After weeks of a mild weather pattern across the Mid-Atlantic, January 2023 will go down in the record books in the top three warmest on record in Washington, D.C.
As February kicks off this week, winter returns with a colder weather pattern and two weather-makers that have the potential to bring winter weather to the area.
The forecast models have not been consistent on crucial details regarding rain, ice and snow.
However, all of the models suggest below-average high temperatures beginning Tuesday and lasting through the weekend.
Monday begins unseasonably warm with high temperatures near 60 degrees.
Tuesday will bring a slight chance for rain and the first wave of cold air, knocking high temperatures below normal into the upper 30s and low 40s.
Wednesday's weather should stay dry, but cool with high temperatures in the 30s and 40s.
Thursday will bring the second weather-maker, which should have moisture available to produce better rain and snow chances.
Friday stays chilly with highs in the 30s and 40s.
Saturday brings the final push of cold air, and temperatures could drop into the teens and 20s in the morning, the coldest since the 2022 Christmas holiday weekend.
