COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ky'Air Thomas, one of two infant twins whose December kidnapping prompted an Amber alert, died Saturday night, a family spokesperson told Spectrum News.

According to Columbus police, officers were dispatched at 10:54 p.m. to a Columbus residence for a report of a baby not breathing. Ky'Air was then transported by medics to Nationwide Children's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:44 p.m.

Police say they are actively investigating the incident.

In December, the then 5-month-old twins were in a running car when it was stolen outside of a business in the Short North. Ky'Air was found early the next morning in a parking lot at the Dayton International Airport. His brother, Kason, was found two days later in Indianapolis, shortly after the suspect, 24-year-old Nalah Jackson, was taken into custody.

An autopsy will be performed on Monday, according to multiple reports. The family's spokesperson has asked for privacy and said the family will put out a statement at a later time.

This is a developing story. More information will be added as it becomes available.
