Power outages for San Antonio’s North Side improve, last rounds of freezing rain expected in the Hill Country through the overnight

Photos sent in via KSAT Connect show that freezing rain accumulation overnight resulted in tree limbs coming down, and subsequently powerlines falling across northern parts of San Antonio and Bexar County Wednesday morning. Remember that downed powerlines are dangerous and should be avoided. Those who live generally north of Loop 410 managed to find this ice accumulation overnight Tuesday and early Wednesday morning.

As of Wednesday evening, a few neighborhoods are still reporting power outages, but the number of outages continues to improve as crews work diligently to restore power. Flashes could be seen across the north side of town earlier this morning thanks to falling tree branches and ice on powerlines. Some roadways have also seen ice, too. Loop 1604, along the city’s north side, saw multiple crashes with heavier travel impacts noted across the Hill Country. Meantime, for those south of Loop 410, precipitation has been mainly in the form of light to moderate rainfall.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT (2/1)

• Drizzle and light showers are possible tonight with temperatures still above freezing for most of San Antonio, but the last few instances of light, freezing rain are possible across portions of the Hill Country. A few travel issues may still be found in those areas as well.

THURSDAY (2/2)

• A few lingering showers are possible Thursday morning, but skies will start to clear by late afternoon & evening with highs in the upper-40s.

FRIDAY (2/3) INTO THE WEEKEND

• Returning to seasonable, sunny weather. Highs in the 60s!
