The 2023 NFL offseason is far from over. Lamar Jackson and Aaron Rodgers remain in limbo as they. from their respective teams. Multiple quarterbacks are expected to go early in April's draft. And all 32 teams are still tweaking their rosters in the leadup to spring and summer. But most of the big-name veteran moves have occurred now that the new league year is well underway, and we've had enough activity to get an early read on which teams are trending in the right direction.

Haggerty hit .290 (9-for-31) with two doubles, a triple, a home run and four RBI across 34 Cactus League plate appearances. The valued utility player put together a line representative of his ability to contribute in a wide variety of offensive categories. Haggerty generated a solid .256 average and .738 OPS across 83 games last season, and the 28-year-old also contributed a career-high 13 stolen bases in the process. Haggerty's ability to fill in at every position except catcher and first base will be especially valued while the similarly versatile Dylan Moore (oblique) is on the injured list, which projects to be until mid-April.

Zegras (lower body) will travel with the Ducks to Seattle ahead of Thursday's contest versus the Kraken, per Lisa Dillman of The Orange County Register. There's no guarantee that Zegras will play Thursday, but at very least the possibility is still there. He left Monday's contest because of the injury. Zegras has 22 goals and 59 points in 74 outings this season.

Seguin supplied a goal in Dallas' 4-1 victory over Chicago on Tuesday. Seguin entered the contest on a six-game goal-scoring slump, though he did register three assists in that span. Through 68 appearances this season, he has 18 markers and 44 points. With just eight games remaining on Dallas' schedule, Seguin might still reach the 20-goal milestone for the ninth time in his career.

Madris was optioned to Triple-A Sugar Land on Tuesday, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports. Madris reached the majors for the first time in his career last season, but slashed just .177/.244/.265 over 123 plate appearances with the Pirates. He had a much better spring, but the 27-year-old outfielder will return to the minors to serve as organizational depth.

Cessa fired five scoreless innings Wednesday during an exhibition game in Cincinnati. Cessa allowed just one hit in the exhibition. There were worries that after his lack of use in the World Baseball Classic for Team Mexico might limit his inning, but it's encouraging to see him go five in the exhibition bout. He'll be back on the mound on Tuesday against the Cubs.

The Toronto Blue Jays and St. Louis Cardinals will begin the 2023 MLB season at Busch Stadium. This interleague affair features a pair of 2022 playoff teams. The visiting Blue Jays won 92 games a year ago, finished second in the tough American League East, and claimed a wild-card berth. However, they were swept in the best-of-three Wild Card Series by the Mariners. As for the Cardinals, they won 93 games and the National League Central title under first-year manager Oliver Marmol, but they were also swept in the first round. In their case, the eventual NL-champion Phillies did the damage.

Cardinals manager Oli Marmol confirmed Wednesday that Walker will be in the Opening Day lineup Thursday against the Blue Jays, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports. Marmol's announcement comes as no surprise after the 20-year-old top prospect was informed Saturday he had made the 26-man major-league roster. Walker will start in one corner-outfield spot Thursday, with Lars Nootbaar covering the other. Tyler O'Neill or Dylan Carlson will patrol center field.

Matijevic struggled to a .626 OPS in 40 plate appearances in the Grapefruit League this spring after batting just .209/.254/.328 over his first 71 major-league plate appearances last year. He'll serve as minor-league depth for Houston leading into the 2023 season.

Duke wing Dariq Whitehead declared for the 2023 NBA Draft on Wednesday after developing into a knockdown 3-point shooter for the Blue Devils during his freshman season. Whitehead was absent for the beginning of the campaign because of a foot fracture and missed time during the heart of ACC play because of a lower-leg injury. But, when healthy, Whitehead offered glimpses of what made him a five-star prospect in the Class of 2022.

Wick cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Iowa on Monday, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Wick appeared on track to make the Opening Day roster, but the Cubs had other plans. Even so, he'll be a candidate to emerge with the big-league squad later on in the season after posting a 4.22 ERA and 1.69 WHIP with a 69:29 K:BB over 64 innings a season ago.

Odor is expected to make San Diego's Opening Day roster, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports. The move has yet to be made official, and Odor isn't currently on the 40-man roster, but the veteran looks to have an inside track to a roster spot with Tim Lopes and Brandon Dixon moved to minor-league camp Sunday. Odor has made his case to break camp with the Padres with a standout spring, as he's slashing .316/.422/.474 with two homers, six RBI and two steals over 45 plate appearances. If he does indeed make the club, he'll likely work as a bench bat with the ability to play second base, third base and left field.
