The Golden State Warriors will have some tough decisions to make when it comes to building their roster. With Stephen Curry still in the fold, the team has a chance to win NBA titles at full strength. However, the massive cost of keeping the group together may make them want to consider a consolidation move of sorts.

Regarding potential options, there are few sellers out there with an ideal trade candidate for the Warriors to make such a move ahead of the NBA trade deadline. One team that could trend in that direction is the Toronto Raptors, as they continue to underwhelm.

One NBA executive suggested the Warriors leverage their young players like James Wiseman, Jonathan Kuminga, and/or Moses Moody, plus Draymond Green, in a trade package to acquire Pascal Siakam from the Raptors, per Bleacher Report’s Eric Pincus.

One executive suggested the Warriors give up their younger players (James Wiseman, Jonathan Kuminga and/or Moses Moody) along with Draymond Green to the Raptors for Siakam and others.

For the Warriors, it would be an incredible outcome to acquire Siakam. With the dynamic talents at Golden State, there would be so many options to bring the best out of him. It’s challenging enough for a defense to contain Siakam with his combination of size, explosiveness, and craftiness at the four. Pair him with the shooting gravity of Curry and Co.; it’s a nightmare to gameplan against.

The main issue for the Warriors in terms of a hypothetical trade pursuit of Siakam is that other teams aren’t high on their young players. While some may be intrigued by Kuminga, the value surrounding Wiseman has tanked since being selected No. 2 overall in the 2020 NBA Draft.

What’s the point of trading a multi-time All-NBA forward in his prime for underwhelming recently drafted prospects and Green, who needs to be maximized alongside a superstar guard? He has a player option for 2023-24, which would set up an early departure, too.

With how the Raptors are sputtering amid an underachieving season without much of an outlook to contend for a title, adding Draymond Green into the mix doesn’t seem to be the right move as the headliner of a trade return for Siakam.
