A man suspected of domestic violence was arrested after a high-speed pursuit with Tulsa police Saturday.
Officers were investigating a domestic assault around 2 p.m. when they learned a woman had been kidnapped from her job last night and had been held against her will, strangled and beaten with a pistol.
The victim told officers she was able to escape after the man, Jeffery Gray, had attempted to barricade her inside his apartment and left.
Police said earlier this month, Gray kicked his way into the mother's residence, assaulted family members, and threatened them with a pistol. Officers mentioned the victim is pregnant and in her third trimester.
Around 6 p.m. Saturday, officers patrolling near Gray's apartment spotted him and attempted to stop him.
Gray fled and led officers on a pursuit through north Tulsa. Officers said at one point, Gray drove the wrong way on I-244 and reached speeds over 100 mph.
Gray eventually lost control of the car and crashed in a field just east of the Osage Casino. His car caught fire and a second fire started in the field from either flaming debris or hot exhausts from patrol cars that were following Gray.
The Tulsa Fire Department responded and put out the fires.
Officers said Gray is being booked for numerous charges including kidnapping, pointing a deadly weapon, domestic strangulation, eluding and firearm possession after a felony conviction.
One TPD officer is being treated for a minor injury while chasing Gray. TPD said they expect him to be able to go home from the hospital tonight.
