25 families without a home from large building fire in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield crews were sent to a large building fire in the city’s North End.

The fire took place in the area of 2413 Main Street and Osgood Street. Smoke was seen pouring out of the windows of the four-story building. According to the Springfield Police Department, 25 families are currently displaced.

Our 22News crew could see at least eight fire trucks surrounding the building. Dozens of people were gathered outside in the cold as firefighters work to put out this fire.

22News viewer Justin Martin sent us a video of the fire where you can see flames and smoke coming from the roof of the building with fire crews lining the perimeter. Another video was sent to 22News by Springfield Firefighter Sgt. Perez Urena and you can see the fire showing behind nearby buildings.

The Springfield Fire Department has reported no serious injuries from the fire. The Springfield Arson and Bomb Squad is still investigating the cause.
