The pilot of a plane that crashed in Talladega County was taken to UAB Hospital Saturday evening. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) reported that a twin-engine plane crashed in a field near Meadow Farm Lane at around 5:40 p.m.The pilot was the only person on board. His name and condition were not released.The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said the Aero Commander 500 crashed in a field north of Sylacauga Municipal Airport after the pilot declared an emergency due to engine issues.Troopers with ALEA's Highway Patrol Division, Talladega County deputies and Childersburg Fire and Rescue Department responded to the scene. The Childersburg Search and Rescue Squad, Childersburg Police and Sylacauga Fire Department assisted on the scene. No other details were released. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will investigate. The NTSB will be in charge of the investigation and will provide any updates.
