Gloucester County 18th Annual Food Drive Scheduled

Local food pantries serve as a safety net for individuals and families in our community. Now that food pantry shelves are depleted after the holiday season, our neighbors need your help to stock the shelves.

The United Way of Gloucester County and the Gloucester County Board of County Commissioners – Human Service Advisory Council have joined together to hold the 18th Annual “Gloucester County Cares about Hunger” food drive from Monday, February 20, 2023 to Sunday, February 26, 2023.

The donation drop off will be held at the United Way of Gloucester County office, 454 Crown Point Road in Thorofare, on Monday, February 27, 2023.

Since 2006, this initiative has collected over 234,367 pounds of food to help our neighbors fighting food insecurity. This collection will support the Food Bank of South Jersey Gloucester County food pantries, as well as restock the shelves at several local non-profit organizations; The Lighthouse Community Center, St John of God Community Services, Emmanuel Cancer Foundation, Greater Woodbury Cooperative Ministries, South Jersey Dream Center, and Your Place at the Table (YPATT).

Hunger is a bigger issue in Gloucester County than many realize. Over 200,000 South Jersey residents suffer from food insecurity. Many families are facing the difficult decision of putting food on the tab

le or taking care of other financial obligations, such as paying rent and utilities. These families could be your neighbors, colleagues, or relatives.
