UND takes big win over in-state rival NDSU, 82-73

Grand Forks, N.D. – The University of North Dakota Fighting Hawks ended 0-8 losing streak against the NDSU Bison 82-73.

UND brought home the win against NDSU for the first time since February 7th, 2019, and maintained a perfect 10-0, on home court. This is Head Coach Mallory Bernhard's first win against the Bison. The third quarter woes seemed to have worked themselves out. UND best scoring run came in the third, outscoring NDSU 10-0. UND outrebounded NDSU 44-37.
Claire Orth led the team with a season high of 23 points. She had 8 rebounds and led the team in minutes played.

Kacie Borowicz had 16 points and led the team with 4 steals.

Maggie Manson led the team from deep, making four out of five for 12 points on the night.

The first quarter did not start off on the right foot for The Fighting Hawks, having to overcome a four-point deficit. However, that would be very short lived as the Bison would only lead for the first four minutes and 26 seconds. UND and NDSU would trade the lead nine times in the first half.

The Hawks came out of the locker room at halftime ready to go, adding eight points in the first minute and 47 seconds. UND would hold NDSU to 15 points in the third while adding 28. The Bison would not go out without a fight. They made a late fourth quarter push closing the gap to nine in the final minutes of play.

North Dakota will continue Summit League play on Thursday, taking on SDSU at 7 p.m. The game will air on Midco Sports and will be carried on the Home of Economy Radio Network.
