Impact Day: Rain makes for a soggy Sunday in central Alabama
EXCLUSIVE LIBRARY, DR. TRACKING STORMS SO YOU’LL KNOW FIRST. THIS IS ITEM 13 WEATHER. WE HAD SOME SUNSHINE FIRST PART OF OUR SATURDAY CLOUDS, THOUGH, NOW BEGINNING TO ROLL IN THAT SIGNALING A CHANGE IN OUR WEATHER PATTERN AND AS WE HEAD INTO SUNDAY CERTAINLY LOOKS LIKE A WET ONE, ESPECIALLY THE AFTERNOON THROUGH SUNDAY EVENING, SUNDAY NIGHT. TEMPERATURES IN THE FIFTIES RIGHT NOW, SO NOT ALL TOO BAD. MANY OF US MADE IT UP INTO THE UPPER FIFTIES OR LOW SIXTIES FOR HIGH TEMPERATURES EARLIER TODAY AT 57 IN BIRMINGHAM, 56. GET STARTED 58. IN CLINTON, 57. ANNISTON TUSCALOOSA UP TO 60 DEGREES NOW. TEMPERATURES OVERNIGHT TONIGHT WILL FALL DOWN INTO THE MID TO UPPER FORTIES AND THEN KIND OF HOLD STEADY THE REST OF THE NIGHT. CLOUDY SKIES OVERNIGHT WITH SMALL CHANCES FOR A FEW RAIN SHOWERS LATE IN THE NIGHT AND HEADING TOWARD DAYBREAK TOMORROW. AGAIN, MUCH BETTER. RAIN CHANCE IS HEADING OUR WAY AS WE APPROACH THE LUNCHTIME PORTION OF THE DAY ON SUNDAY. WE’RE QUIET RIGHT NOW ON THE WVTM 13 LIVE DOPPLER BACK UP TO THE WEST. CLOUDS INCREASING A FEW LIGHT TO MODERATE RAIN SHOWERS BACK TO THE WEST. THIS AREA WILL ORGANIZE AND HEAD OUR WAY FOR A BIG BATCH OF SOAKING RAINFALL. NOT EXPECTING ANY SEVERE WEATHER, BUT SOME OF THE RAIN COULD BE LOCALLY HEAVY AS WE MOVE THROUGH THE DAY ON SUNDAY. SO AROUND 9:10 A.M. TOMORROW. YOU SEE THE SHOWERS FOR MUCH OF NORTHWEST EAST ALABAMA. THIS AREA WILL TEND TO SLOWLY PUSH DOWN TO THE SOUTH AND EAST AS WE GO THROUGH THE LATE MORNING AND INTO THE EARLY AFTERNOON. EVERY HOUR AT 2 P.M. LOOKS LIKE A WET ONE ACROSS THE BIRMINGHAM METRO AND INTO TUSCALOOSA. HEAVIEST OF THE RAIN WILL BE DOWN TO OUR SOUTH WHERE A FEW THUNDERSTORMS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE. BUT FOR US HERE IN CENTRAL ALABAMA, WE’RE MAINLY TALKING JUST THAT SOAKING KIND OF STEADY RAIN AS WE GO THROUGH THE AFTERNOON AND INTO THE EVENING. SEVEN, EIGHT, 9 P.M. TOMORROW. LOOK AT 11 STILL DEALING WITH SOME OF THOSE SHOWERS. ONGOING RAINFALL WILL GRADUALLY DECREASE AS WE HEAD THROUGH LATE SUNDAY NIGHT AND INTO THE FIRST PART OF OUR MONDAY. A FEW LINGERING SHOWERS MONDAY MORNING. THEN IT DOES LOOK LIKE WE DRY OUT, AT LEAST TEMPORARILY FOR MONDAY AFTERNOON. OVERALL RAINFALL TOTALS LOOK TO BE ANYWHERE BETWEEN 1 TO 2 INCHES ACROSS MUCH OF THE AREA. A FEW ISOLATED SPOTS SOUTH OF I-20 COULD PICK UP CLOSER TO THREE INCHES OF RAIN. AGAIN, SOME MINOR FLOODING WILL BE POSSIBLE WHERE THE HEAVIEST RAIN DOES SET UP AND IT’S GOING TO BE A WET, UNSETTLED WEATHER PATTERN AS WE GO THROUGH THE NEXT 5 TO 7 DAYS. RAIN CHANCE IS A NEAR CERTAINTY TOMORROW. MONDAY WE DRY OUT. BUT LOOK AT TUESDAY. WEDNESDAY, RAIN RETURNS. THURSDAY, MORE RAIN MAYBE THE FEW THUNDERSTORMS AND SOME OF THAT RAIN AGAIN COULD BE ON THE HEAVIER SIDE AS WE HEAD THROUGH THE WEEK. WE MAY HAVE TO WATCH FOR SOME FLOODING CONCERNS AS THE RAINFALL RATES CONTINUE TO PICK ON UP. IMPACT WHETHER TOMORROW WITH THAT SOAKING RAIN IN PLACE, CLOUDY, MILDER MONDAY. RAIN BACK IN THE FORECAST TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY. ANOTHER IMPACT DAY AS RAINFALL RATES WILL INCREASE. SOME OF THAT RAIN HEAVY AT TIMES IF YOU LINGERING SHOWERS INTO FRIDAY, THEN MAYBE FINALLY DRYING OUT FOR THE START O
