The Cincinnati Bengals added two to the active roster Sunday

The Cincinnati Bengals elevated two players ahead of their Sunday AFC Championship Game. The Bengals will go on the road to play the Kansas City Chiefs for the right to play in the Super Bowl. The Bengals were expected to elevate offensive linemen for the game, as the Bengals announced Friday two starters from the unit were ruled out.

According to Aaron Wilson with KPRC, the Bengals elevated quarterback Jake Browning and offensive tackle Isaiah Prince from the practice squad for the AFC title matchup.

Browning was an undrafted free agent signed by the Minnesota Vikings in 2019. He’s been with the Bengals since the 2021 season. Browning has no regular season stat records in the NFL.  Browning led the Washington Huskies to the College Football Playoff for the 2016 season. Browning will be third on the depth chart Sunday behind Joe Burrow and Brandon Allen.

His elevation will serve as a hedge should the first two quarterbacks be injured in the AFC Championship with a patchwork offensive line. The elevation appears a little surprising because the Bengals could have elevated another offensive lineman or player that could be useful for special teams or other positions that need depth.

Prince has not played a regular-season snap for the Bengals this season. He played in 19 games for the Bengals in 2021. Prince earned a 58 overall grade by Pro Football Focus for his efforts last season. He gave up five sacks and 36 pressures during his 395 pass-blocking snaps. Prince committed 11 penalties in 2021.
