Cops find 2 shooting victims hours apart at same N.J. apartment building

Newark police investigating a shooting at an apartment building on Shephard Avenue found one victim on Saturday morning–and another about four hours later when they were executing a search warrant, a spokeswoman said.

Police were first called to 203 Shephard Avenue around 11:40 a.m. following a report of gunfire. Cops located a man who had been shot and called an ambulance. The victim, who was unidentified, was taken to University Hospital in Newark, where he was in critical condition, said Catherine Adams, a police spokeswoman.

About four hours later, police discovered a second gunshot victim while executing a search warrant, Adams said. That man, who was also identified, was also taken to University Hospital. His condition was unknown.
