According to Curtis Crabtree of FOX 13 Seattle, manager Scott Servais said Thursday that Trammell is 2-to-3 weeks away from starting a rehab assignment, putting the outfielder on track to return in late April. Trammell won't be guaranteed a spot on the MLB roster once healthy with the offseason additions of Teoscar Hernandez, AJ Pollock and Cooper Hummel providing plenty of depth in the outfield.

It's possible that implies Schoop could be stuck on the short side of a platoon this season -- arguably a deserved outcome for a player who slashed .202/.239/.322 last year -- but it may simply be the case that the Tigers want to make sure everybody gets some at-bats in the first few games.

The Bengals signed Basham on Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Basham is now set to join the Bengals in 2023 where he'll ultimately pursue his ninth year in the NFL. The 29-year-old linebacker made seven appearances this past season primarily as a rotational defensive piece for the Cowboys (two games) and Titans (five games), and he'll presumably compete for pass-rushing snaps with Cameron Sample, Jeff Gunter and Owen Carney.

Nootbaar received plenty of attention from fantasy drafters over the winter and followed that up by batting second and reaching base three times in the season opener. The Cardinals have a crowded outfield, however, and they'll give Alec Burleson the start in left field in the second game of the season. Exactly how often Nootbaar is in the lineup will go a long way toward determining his fantasy value this season, and it's not a good sign in that respect that he's on the bench already even with a righty (Kevin Gausman) on the mound for the opposition. It may take a week or two to get a clear sense of how often each Cardinal will find themselves in the lineup.

Graveman (1-1) allowed three earned runs on two hits and two walks across two-thirds of an inning to take the loss Friday against the Astros. Graveman entered the game in the seventh inning with a 3-2 lead, but he allowed three consecutive batters to reach base to load the bases with two outs. He was pulled at that point and was charged with the runs after Yordan Alvarez cleared the bases with a double. Graveman has pitched the eighth and seventh innings in two appearances this season, so he doesn't appear to be in the mix for saves for the time being.
