Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street's Adam Barlow debuted a new hairstyle recently, and viewers were surprised, to say the least.

Over the years, Adam has sported a number of looks, ranging from a buzz cut to curly locks, but the recent addition of a man bun has not impressed everyone.

In scenes that aired this week, Adam tried to organise a legal defence for Max Turner after his involvement with the racist gang and their campaign of terror. But viewers on Twitter were distracted by the new look.

"You can't say Adam Barlow hasn't been through a variety of hairstyles over the last couple of years, but the man bun is a step too far…" said one viewer, while another suggested that the style made him look a bit too suspicious to be a lawyer.

A third added on a more logical note: "Oh no, another man-bun. If people have long hair, leave it down. Why grow it long only to tie it up?"

Someone else was a little more blunt in their sentiment, simply stating: "Adam please chop your man bun off [laughing emojis]".

Unfortunately for all the man bun haters out there, Corrie is filmed weeks in advance, so if the powers-that-be decide to get rid of it, it won't happen on screen just yet.

That's not all that's going on in Coronation Street at the moment, as former Hollyoaks star Ben Hull has been cast as Owen, a new love interest for Jenny Connor.

"Smooth-talking Owen will set the cat among the pigeons as the rep for an American company interested in Sarah and Michael's new business," a teaser explained. "But it's not just loungewear that Owen sets his sights on, once Jenny catches his eye...

"What's more, Stephen has invested in Michael and Sarah's business, and won't take kindly to someone muscling in on his turf. Is Owen set to give Stephen a run for his money?"

Meanwhile, veteran actress Maureen Lipman is taking a break for her role as Evelyn Plummer, which she's been doing since 2018. Digital Spy can confirm that the break will last four weeks as she takes her one-woman play Rose to the West End.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
