One dead, two in custody after gas station shooting in Clarksville

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A homicide investigation is underway following a Saturday morning shooting at a Clarksville gas station that left one person dead and two others injured.

The Clarksville Police Department said officers responded to a call about a shooting at Dodge’s, located in the 1500 block of Fort Campbell Boulevard, shortly before 5 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28.

When authorities arrived at the scene, they said they made contact with one man who had been shot in the chest.

The victim — later identified as 29-year-old Jarlen Corbin — was originally going to be flown to Nashville via LifeFlight helicopter, but due to the severity of his injuries, Montgomery County Emergency Medical Services brought him to Tennova Healthcare, where he was later pronounced dead, police reported.

According to officials, the first responding officers believed there was going to be at least one more shooting victim based on the evidence at the scene.

Then, a short time later, two people — identified as 28-year-old Maleike Hamlin and 21-year-old Otis Barnes, both of Clarksville — arrived at Tennova Healthcare together, authorities said. They had both been involved in the incident and had gunshot wounds.

Hamlin and Barnes were taken to Vanderbilt Hospital.

The two have since been treated, released from the hospital and booked into the Montgomery County Jail. They are each facing a criminal homicide charge.
