Who’s coming and who’s going from General Hospital (GH) this week or in the not-too-distant future?
Here’s the latest casting news from the ABC soap.
The week of January 30, 2023
Marcus Coloma, who debuted as Nikolas, the Cassadine prince, in 2019, has wrapped up his run on the soap. The character, however, won’t be exiting Port Charles quite yet. Expect to see a recast in the role this week. Coloma and GH mutually agreed that he would not tape Nikolas’s last episodes due to health issues. Adam Huss had subbed for Coloma in the past.
Vernee Watson pops back into Port Charles as Stella Henry. She’ll play heavily in the storyline involving Brook Kerr’s Portia Robinson and Tabyana Ali’s Trina Robinson.
Maria Tornberg has been portraying Renee Laveque, the agent who double-crossed Valentin Casssadine (James Patrick Stuart) and Anna Devane (Finola Hughes). She previously played Agent Reznik on Days of our Lives.
Meanwhile, Noelle Messier has been playing Ramona, the inmate who attacked Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) at the low-security prison housing the pair and Heather Webber (Alley Mills).
GH made its debut in 1963 and was created by the husband and wife team of Frank and Doris Hursley, taking place at a hospital in an unnamed city. In fact, the setting wasn’t named Port Charles until the 1970s. General Hospital is the longest-running soap opera currently on air.
From legendary Laura’s (Genie Francis) four decades on and off and back on as the show’s leading heroine, to Anna Devane’s (Finola Hughes) exploits, to Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and his mobster activities, GH certainly knows how to please their viewers.
