Shiner boys basketball: Comanches deal defeats to Ganado, Weimar

Shiner made strives toward securing a playoff spot with two district wins the week of Jan. 16.
Shiner 62, Ganado 44
Ryan Peterson knocked down two dozen points and Drew Wenske netted 14 points in Shiner’s 62-44 win at home Jan. 17 against the Indians.
Ganado led 13-11 after the first quarter and Shiner went on a 13-6 run in the second to claim a 24-19 halftime lead.
Shiner packed the lead with an 18-9 run in the third period and continued the run with a 20 of 36 points scored in the fourth stanza.
Shiner knocked down five tres led by Wenske and Carson who had two each.

Having scored just seven first-half points, the Comanches turned it up a couple of notches, scoring 41 second-half points to beat Weimar  48-34. Jan. 20 in Weimar
Weimar led just 4-3 after the first frame and outscored Shiner 6-4 in the second period. The Comanches took the lead on a 19-7 third-quarter run and outscored the Wildcats 22-17 in the fourth quarter.
Peterson led with 15 point; Micah Carson checked in with double digits with 13 and Carson Schuette hit 11 points. The three players combined for four triples.
