In case you missed it, the mayor of Cincinnati involved himself in the ongoing AFC Championship hype train on Friday. Mayor Aftab Pureval took several shots at the Kansas City Chiefs and quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The mayor then, in perhaps cringy fashion, claimed that Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow was Mahomes’ father.

Not all were amused by Mayor Pureval’s antics. That included Patrick Mahomes’ wife, Brittany.

Brittany Mahomes responded to the Mayor’s antics on Twitter. She responded to Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas’ tweet about the Cincy Mayor. Mahomes’ wife called the stunt “WEAK. & embarrassing.”

In the proclamation, Mayor Pureval called Arrowhead Stadium “Burrowhead Stadium,” a popular joke in the Bengals’ circle this week. One that Kansas City has surely taken notice of. Mayor Pureval also implied Burrow owned the Super Bowl Champion quarterback.

“Whereas Joseph Lee Burrow, who’s 3-0 against Mahomes, has been asked by officials to take a paternity test to confirming whether or not he’s his father,” the Mayor said.

The building animosity between both sides has been a huge storyline all week long. It only has mounted more anticipation for the high-stakes clash on Sunday afternoon.

Cincinnati and Kansas City will renew hostilities at 6:30 p.m. Eastern Sunday. CBS will air the game while the Paramount+ streaming service will stream the game for all users.
