The Reno community came together today to pay their last respects and honor the life of the late philanthropist Evelyn Mount who passed last month.
About 500 people showed up at the Grace Church to help celebrate the life of one of the most impactful people in our community.
The service was filled with heartfelt tributes from local dignitaries, friends and family members.
Evelyn's dedication to public service and her commitment to helping those in need has had a significant impact on the lives of countless people in this community. The Reno Police presented her family with the highest award for civilians for her work.
Community members shared with News 4 & Fox 11 that they remember being little kids and driving to her home with their parents to donate, and they plan to continue honoring her legacy by passing this tradition down to their kids.
When asked to describe Evelyn in one word, the community said she was iconic, a true leader, an inspiration, a pillar to our community and that she oozes with compassion.
Mayor Hillary Schieve was also present at the event today and had declared December 23rd Evelyn Mount Day of Remembrance, she said,
To the new generation out there, let's follow her example an #belikeevelyn.
