Volunteers sell crafts to raise funds for struggling New York hospital

Volunteers at Ogdensburg, N.Y.-based Claxton Hepburn Medical Center are selling crafts to help the rural hospital improve its financial situation, NCPR reported Jan. 27.

Last summer, the hospital laid off dozens of employees. Ramona Kennedy, the hospital's Lifeline medical alert service manager, runs the craft shop.

In 2022, the craft shop raised $170,000 for employees’ wish list of medical devices and supplies not included in the budget.

The group will host its next craft sale in May.
