Gophers and Hawkeyes Stunningly Each Finish With a Score of 196.875

The University of Minnesota women's gymnastics program wrapped up their trip to Iowa City by finishing with the exact same score as the Iowa Hawkeyes, 196.875.

In another show-stopping floor routine, junior Mya Hooten earned a score of 9.975, tying her for the event title with Iowa's Jerquavia Henderson.

Junior Gianna Gerdes brings the all-around event title back to Minneapolis after scoring a career-high 39.375 on Friday night. 

Freshmen Brooklyn Rowray and Sarah Moraw scored 9.900 and 9.875, respectively, on beam. They held the top two scores for the Gophers.

"This was a really great step forward for the team," head coach Jenny Hansen said. "It was the first meet for us ending on beam, and the team handled the pressure really well. Tying with Iowa on the road is a huge testament to our team's growth so far this season."

EVENT BREAKDOWN
VAULT
The Maroon and Gold continued their success on vault this season on Friday, scoring 49.300. Hooten finished with the top score for the team with a 9.900, with Gerdes and redshirt senior Maddie Quarles each scoring 9.875. Freshmen Seria Johnson and Sarah Moraw impressed yet again, with Johnson scoring a 9.850 and Moraw receiving a 9.800. Remlinger rounded out the Minnesota lineup with a score of 9.775. 

BARS
Hooten and fifth-year senior Tiarre Sales tied for the event title on bars with Iowa's Adeline Kenlin after they both scored 9.875. Remlinger finished with a strong 9.850 in the 3-spot for the Gophers, with Gerdes following her with a score of 9.825. Sophomore Marissa Jencks finished with a 9.750 and Johnson received a score of 9.700. 

BEAM
The Maroon and Gold had their best beam performance of their season on Friday, finishing with a team score of 49.025. Rowray (9.900) and Moraw (9.875) led the way for the Gophers in the event, adding to an impressive night from the Minnesota freshmen. Gerdes added a 9.825 beam score to her career-high all-around score, while junior Emily Koch received a 9.650 score. Johnson scored a 9.775 on beam in a night in which she competed in all four events. Junior Ella Sirjord made her debut on beam, scoring a 9.100

FLOOR
An event score of 49.375 on floor propelled Gophers to their season-high final score of 196.875. Hooten received a score of 10.000 from one judge and a score of 9.950 from the other, leading to a final score of 9.975. Remlinger added a 9.900 to the team score, just 0.050 short of her season-high floor score. Gerdes and Johnson each scored 9.850, with Rowray and Jencks following closely with scores of 9.800 and 9.775, respectively.
