ANYWHERE. WE ARE LEARNING MORE TONIGHT ABOUT HOW OMAHA POLICE WERE ABLE TO CATCH TWO SUSPECTS INVOLVED IN A WEST OMAHA BANK ROBBERY ON THURSDAY. IT TOOK THEM IT TOOK A TEAM OF INVESTIGATORS AND THE COMMUNITY TO QUICKLY IDENTIFY WHO THE MEN WERE. KETV NEWSWATCH 7 JOSH KRISTIANTO REPORTS FOR US TONIGHT. A BOLD CRIME IN BROAD DAYLIGHT AT THE FIRST NATIONAL BANK, NEAR 1/75 AND CENTER STREET THURSDAY PROMPTS AN URGENT SEARCH FOR WHO DID IT. A PATRON WHO WAS INSIDE THE BANK CALLED 911 REPORTED THAT THERE ARE TWO ARMED SUSPECTS INSIDE WHO ARE CURRENTLY ROBBING THE BANK. POLICE BELIEVE 26 YEAR OLD TALIAFERRO THOMPSON AND 28 YEAR OLD ANDREW KINCAID HAD STOLEN UNKNOWN CASH AMOUNT FROM THE BANK. THEY ALSO SAY SOME EMPLOYEES AND PATRONS WERE ASSAULTED DURING THE ROBBERY. TWO WENT TO THE HOSPITAL WHEN WE TOLD THE TWO VICTIMS IN THE HOSPITAL THAT WE ARE GOING TO WORK THIS UNTIL WE FOUND THEM. THAT’S EXACTLY WHAT WHAT THE ROBBERY UNIT, ALONG WITH OUR OUR OTHER UNITS DID. POLICE ALREADY HAD THE WHITE VAN, THE SUSPECTS USED IN THE CRIME, BUT IT WAS ANOTHER PIECE OF EVIDENCE THAT PROVED KEY TO SOLVING THE CASE BECAUSE THE BANK STAFF WAS SO COOPERATIVE, WE WERE ABLE TO GET VERY GOOD STILL PHOTOS OF THE SUSPECTS INVOLVED. WHEN THOSE PHOTOS WERE RELEASED ON CRIME STOPPERS, WE HAD VERY UNIQUE AND SPECIFIC TIPS ON WHO THOSE INDIVIDUALS WERE. TIPS CAME IN BY THE DOZENS SHORTLY AFTER THE PHOTOS WENT UP. AND LESS THAN 24 HOURS AFTER THE ROBBERY, POLICE WERE ABLE TO ARREST THE SUSPECTS OFF NORTH 45TH STREET. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT’S PRETTY. IT DOES NOT HAPPEN VERY OFTEN. BUT WHEN THEY DO, WE TAKE THIS HIGH PROFILE CRIME VERY SERIOUS. I THINK THAT’S WHY WE HAD SUCH A QUICK UNIFORM RESPONSE TO THAT BANK THAT DAY. AND THANKS TO THE COMMUNITY WORKING TOGETHER, IT’S A CRIME THAT WE HARDER TO GET AWAY WITH IN OMAHA. AND POLICE SAY OMAHA HAS SEEN AT LEAST TWO BANK ROBBERIES THIS LAST MONTH. THE SUSPECTS IN THIS CASE COULD ALSO BE FACING ASSAULT CHARGES LATER ON.

Omaha Police tells KETV they were able to catch the two suspects involved in a West Omaha bank robbery Thursday morning with the help of tips from the public through Crime Stoppers. A bold crime in broad daylight at the First National Bank near 175th and Center Street prompted an urgent search for who did it. "A patron who was inside the bank called 911, reported that there are two armed suspects inside who are currently robbing the bank," said Lt. Kara Platt, who works in OPD's Assault and Robbery Units. Police believe 26-year-old Taliaferro Thompson and 28-year-old Andrew Kincaid stole an unknown cash amount from the bank. Police also say some employees and patrons were assaulted during the robbery, with two going to the hospital. "When we told the two victims in the hospital that we were going to work this until we found them, that's exactly what the robbery unit along with our other units did," Platt said. Police already had the white van the suspects used in the crime scene. But it was another piece of evidence that proved key to solving the case. "Because the bank staff was so cooperative, we were able to get very good still photos of the suspects involved," Platt said. "When those photos were released on Crime Stoppers, we had very unique and specific tips on who those individuals were."Tips came in by the dozens shortly after the photos went up. And less than 24 hours after the robbery, police were able to arrest the suspects off North 45th Street. "This is something that's pretty ... does not happen very often. But when they do, we take this high-profile crime very serious. I think that's why we had such a quick, uniformed response to that bank that day," Platt said. And thanks to the community working together, it is a crime that will be harder to get away with in Omaha. Police say Omaha has seen at least two bank robberies this last month.
