Something really neat happened Friday at Gulf Shores Elementary school.
A kids service club ended this week with an act of kindness.
It’s an act that will serve a community that needs a little tlc.
One by one they walked into the trailer dropping off supplies they brought for tornado victims in Selma.
Food, water, paper products, diapers were included in the valuable commodities headed to an area ripped apart by the January 12th storm.
"I’ve always heard I have a big heart and I love helping people and spreading kindness around the world," said Gulf Shores student Ella Jones.
These students from Gulf Shores Elementary put aside the books for a little while and learned a lesson in humanity.
They are all part of the Kiwanis K-Kids Service Club.
It was their idea to collect items for the people of Selma; for the kids their age, whose parents and grandparents and brothers and sisters had their world turned upside down in a matter of minutes.
Ashley Weekly is the advisor for the K-Kids Club.
"Being on the gulf coast, we know how it is with hurricanes and everything and the area that needs help and we knew that Selma needed big help," said Weekly.
That’s where Christie Wheeles and her husband Chris stepped in; they provided the trailer for the journey to Selma. They know these kidsmany of them train at their karate studio.
"I think it is really good to show the future leaders of America to give back to our community when people are in need," said Wheeles.
So, for Ella jones and her classmatesthey are learning while at the same time teaching the golden rule.
