Steven M. Reed, 68 of Logansport passed away peacefully at 12:45 a.m., Thursday, January 26, 2023 at Dukes Memorial Hospital in Peru.

Born on April 30, 1954 in Peru, he was the son of the late Edward and Marlene (Brower) Reed.

He was a 1972 Logansport High School graduate and a U.S. Army veteran.

On July 18, 1981 he married Holly K. Tucker, she survives.

He formerly worked at Wilson Foods for over 20 years and then retired from Chrysler Corporation after over 20 years.

Steve was fun, hard working, and helpful. He was also a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and friend.  He genuinely treasured his loved ones and grandkids and wanted to see their happiness and success. He enjoyed hearing about his grandkids interests and hobbies. Often asking how they were doing even while in the middle of his own fight with cancer.

He loved nature and all types of outdoor activities.  He enjoyed sitting out in his woods by the fire in his self-built “campsite.”  He liked taking walks on the River Bluff Trail or down the country road, bicycling, canoeing (with an occasional unplanned swim ;), shooting sports, tinkering in the garage, grilling out,  and riding his motorcycle to see his grandkids.  He loved making milkshakes, drinking coffee with his sweets, and munching on kettle corn and sharing those things with his kids and grandkids.

In his life, Steve made some great friends, establishing the routine of playing cards in his younger years,  going to steak and shake after a work shift and having new years eve celebrations with special friends Dave and Kathy.  He truly cherished his time with these friends.

Survivors include his wife, Holly Reed, of Logansport, daughter, Robyn Maish (Derek) of Rossville, son, Derek Reed (Emily) of Logansport, sisters, Gwen Frank of South Carolina and Traci Collins of Kokomo, several nieces and nephews, and grandchildren, Olivia, Elsie, Whitley, Archer, and Zeke Reed and Fynn, Lyris, Nova, and Truett Maish.

He was also preceded in death by brothers, Ed, David and Jim Reed and sister, Melissa Reed.

Per Steve’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service, but there will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.

Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation (CCF).

Steve’s online guestbook is available and condolences can be shared with the family at www.ransfuneralhomes.com.
