SURVEILLANCE VIDEO, INCRIMINATING SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS AND PHOTOS TAKEN BY A KEY WITNESS LED TO THE ARREST OF SUSPECTS. 19 YEAR OLD IN FLORIDA. AND AS ALWAYS, SMART TO IDENTIFY BOTH TEENS NOW BEHIND BARS IN CONNECTION TO THE DEATH OF ALBUQUERQUE ACADEMY SENIOR JADA. WHAT WITH SOCIAL MEDIA FORENSICS, ALBUQUERQUE POLICE SAYING THEY WERE ABLE TO LINK THE SUSPECTS FROM THE NIGHT OF THE PARTY. I SEE HOW A CARELESS, SENSELESS ACT AND THE PERSON ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THAT USED IT FOR I THINK MOTIVES NEVER REALLY UNDERSTAND. SOCIAL MEDIA EXPERT LAURENE RODRIGUEZ SAYS SOCIAL MEDIA IS A GREAT TOOL FOR INVESTIGATIONS LIKE THESE. IF WE TAKE A LOOK AT HOW IT WAS USED TO HELP APD CLOSE THOSE GANGS, BRING JUSTICE TO A FAMILY, I THINK WE CAN SEE THAT IT CAN BE USED AS A TOOL FOR GOOD IN THIS CASE ON APD SIDE. THROUGH FURTHER INVESTIGATION, A PART OF SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS, POLICE WERE ABLE TO IDENTIFY THE 16 YEAR OLD MALE IN SEVERAL PHOTOS AND POSSESSIONS OF GUNS, INCLUDING A GLOCK WITH A DRUM MAGAZINE. IF SOMEBODY IS AS BRAZEN AS TO POST THAT, IT’S POSSIBLE THAT THEY COULD HAVE OTHER MOTIVES IN PROCESS AS WELL. THAT’S WHY RODRIGUEZ BELIEVES IT’S NECESSARY TO BRING POLLS LIKE THESE TO LIGHT. THERE’S AN OVERARCHING, JUST SENSE OF CARELESSNESS AND RECKLESSNESS ABOUT THE THINGS THAT WE PUT ONLINE. AND I DO THINK IT’S IMPORTANT AS A COMMUNITY, WHAT WE DO SEE CONTENT LIKE IT OR THERE ARE THINGS POSTED THAT COULD POTENTIALLY POINT TO DANGEROUS ACTS. IT IS OF THE UTMOST IMPORTANCE THAT WE MAKE SURE TO REPORT THE THINGS. BARBARA AND THE 16 YEAR OLD HAVE BEEN HIT WITH A FEW CHARGE

Surveillance video, incriminating social media posts and photographs taken by a key witness led to the arrest of suspects Jesse Parra, 19, and a 16-year-old male. According to the Albuquerque Police Department, both teens are now behind bars in connection to the senseless killing of Albuquerque Academy senior, Jada Gonzales. With the help of social media forensics, APD said they were able to link the suspects from the night of the party. Social media expert Laurene Rodriguez, CEO of Mariposa Marketing, partnered with Facebook/Meta Career Connections, said social media is a great tool for investigations like these. "I want to make sure I take the proper time to extend my condolences to the family. In this case, I pray that God would cover them and bring them peace during such a difficult time. As far as the uses of social media goes and incrimination, I see how a careless, senseless act and the person on the other side of that used it for, I think, motives we'll never really understand," she said. Through further investigation of Parra's social media account, APD was able to identify the 16-year-old male in several photographs in possession of firearms — including a Glock with a drum magazine."If somebody is as brazen as to post that, it's possible that they could have other motives in process as well," Rodriguez said. "If we take a look at how it was used to help APD close those gaps and bring justice to a family, I think it can be used as a tool for good, in this case on APD's side," Rodriguez said. "There's an overarching just sense of carelessness and recklessness about the things that we put online. I think it's important as a community when we do see content like that, or there are things posted that could potentially point to dangerous acts, it is of the utmost importance that we make sure to report those things.""I want to pay some kudos to APD and, in fact, the BCSO and Santa Fe PD. Over the last year or so, we have started to see how they have really stepped boldly into this digital world and leveraging social media as a tool to stay connected with the community and to keep the community informed," Rodriguez said. Parra and the 16-year-old male have been charged with an open count of murder, conspiracy to commit murder, shooting at a building, and tampering with evidence — among other charges. The case is still under investigation.
