Brooklyn Nets ranked as the 12th-best team in the NBA per B/R

The Brooklyn Nets were ranked as the 12th-best team in the NBA in Bleacher Report’s latest power rankings published on Friday. The last time that the website did their power rankings, Jan. 20, they were ranked as the 10th-best team in the association.

It seems that the Nets have been falling down the power rankings of many reputable NBA sites as Brooklyn has gone 2-6 since Kevin Durant hurt his knee against the Miami Heat. The Nets were able to pick up impressive wins over the Utah Jazz and Golden State Warriors, but they have also disappointing losses against the Oklahoma City Thunder, San Antonio Spurs, and the Detroit Pistons.

Since Durant went down with his knee injury, Kyrie Irving and Nic Claxton have stepped up their production to try to will the team to victory. However, at the same time, Ben Simmons has not provided much value while on the court as he has long bouts of just watching his teammates play offense and that has led to some scrutiny similar to what he faced during his day as a Philadelphia 76er. Here’s what Bleacher Report’s Andy Bailey had to say about the Nets ranking on this list:

“His basic line against his former team on Wednesday looked fine enough. Ben Simmons had 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting, grabbed five boards and handed out five assists.

But he was a minus-16 in a four-point loss. He got stonewalled and forced into a travel by reserve forward Georges Niang in the post early in the fourth quarter, was clowned by Philadelphia 76ers fans all game and was on the bench when the Brooklyn Nets authored a furious rally that came up just short.

Most importantly, he continued to look borderline terrified of scoring on several possessions.

Then, in Thursday’s loss to the Detroit Pistons, he had zero points on 0-of-3 before leaving the game with knee soreness.

In Kevin Durant’s absence, no one expects Simmons to make up for the missing 29.7 points all by himself, but he has to be more of a threat than this.”
