The El Paso County Sheriff's Office purchased vehicles for its Crisis Intervention Team.
"The new units will benefit the team’s mission of providing assistance and resolution to any crisis or high-risk situation involving a citizen in a behavioral or mental health crisis," a statement from the sheriff's office read.
The vehicles and the equipment inside were bought with federal funding.
Each CIT member is provided with intensive training and the necessary tools to take part in a wide range of mental health crisis calls, according to the sheriff's office.
The CIT was formed in April 2021 and is a community partnership between the sheriff’s office and Emergence Health Network (EHN).
