Several El Pasoans and law enforcement agencies showed up to pay their respects for late El Paso police chief Greg Allen's funeral services on Friday.
Both civilians and law enforcement said they went to say "thank you" to Allen for all he has done for the El Paso community and to show support to his family.
"I just wanted to come out here and share with everybody grief and his loss we’re losing a great man for the city," said Raphael Olivares and El Pasoan.
Raul Garcia Jr., a former El Paso police officer who served under Allen's leadership attended the services.
"He was just a great leader when he spoke everybody listened nobody doubted his work he either did it or he done it or he would stand right there and do it with you," said Raul Garcia Jr.
The El Paso Border Patrol sector and the Socorro Honor Guard were part of the honor service.
"The entire border patrol sector sends their condolences to El Paso PD, family, and the city, it is a moment of mourning and we’re here to support our brothers and sisters of law enforcement," said Fidel Baca a Border Patrol agent.
"Chief Allen was a pillar in our community and worked very closely with our Chief David Burden in Socorro so we’re very honored to be able to provide the honor guard service for him today," said Victor Reta with the Socorro Police Department," Victor Reta said.
KFOX14 asked those who attended the funeral services if they could speak to Allen one last time and what would they say to him.
"Thank you very much for all that he’s done for us as the community and for a great job while he was here," said Olivares.
"Chief thank you for everything, thank you for setting that example and for your words of wisdom, and thank you for your leadership, and thank you for being just who you were," said Garcia.
An officer who did not want to be identified said the department will have a tough time replacing Allen but said the next person called will have to continue Allen's legacy.
Dozens of law enforcement agencies lined up along Montana Avenue as the funeral procession passed by.
Allen was taken from the funeral home in the Lower Valley to the church service at Abundant Church.
After the church service, Allen was laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery with a Full Honors Funeral service.
