Quinterris Javon Carmichael and Tirik Jaquan Johnson-Epps have been sentenced to life in prison Friday after being found guilty of the murder of 18-year-old Tydrecus Deshawn Williams in September of 2019 at a store on Lucas Street in Florence, according to Twelfth Circuit Solicitor Ed Clements.
"It was a great trial and great victory. Ryan White did a superb job. He's developing into an excellent prosecutor, trial attorney. It was hard fought. Thankful for the excellent job that the Florence Police Department did in putting this case together," said Clements.
Clements said the men aren't eligible for parole and will spend the rest of their lives in prison.
He said it was a tough sentence, but they had to be held accountable for their actions.
"It just breaks my heart to see these young guys with their whole lives in front of them just thrown away. Over guns and turf war. It's just heartbreaking. But, we have to hold those accountable who go out and treat life as something cheap. And throw it away. We've got to do what we can to stop these gun battles," said Clements.
