Convoy of Care delivers supplies to storm victims

SPALDING COUNTY, Ga — WSBTV’s Convoy of Care rolled into Griffin, delivering thousands of pounds of essential

household supplies to the victims of severe storms and tornadoes two weeks ago. The supplies,

which included toiletries, baby supplies, cleaning products and pet food and non-perishable food

“No matter where we are or what we are doing, we are one Georgia. This is great example, what we are seeing here today.” said Convoy of Care Co-Founder Clarence Cox.

The supplies were delivered to the Storm Relief Distribution Center in Griffin. Those in need can drop by and shop for essentials. Volunteers are also making deliveries to storm ravaged neighborhoods.

“We went through some bad stuff, but I’m glad to be here.” said storm victim Mary Crawley.

A county firefighter who helped in the rescue efforts immediately following the storm say it’s brought out the best in many people.

“It’s been pretty tough for the community, but we had a lot of response from volunteers.” said Spalding County Firefighter David Dick.

The director of the relief distribution center says it has a thousand volunteers. In the past two weeks they have provided one million pounds of donated supplies to ten thousand household members. The relief center will soon be working closely with the community charities and churches.

WSB-TV thanks all the volunteers who helped in the Convoy of Care campaign, and the many who donated supplies to help storm victims.
