As a part of Roseburg School District's efforts to develop educational leaders while best serving students, several shifts in administrative positions will take place for the 2023-24 school year, the district said in a press release.
“These changes will provide several of our leaders with the opportunity to further develop their skills while sharing their talents and strengths in new roles supporting our students, staff, and families across our community,” said Superintendent Jared Cordon.
Administrators will remain in their current positions for the remainder of the school year, with their new roles taking effect July 1.
Eastwood Elementary School
Jake Hughes, current assistant principal at Fremont Middle School, will take on the role of principal at Eastwood Elementary School. Hughes obtained his Bachelor of Science and Master of Teacher Education from Eastern Washington University, and completed his Administration Program with George Fox University. Hughes taught fourth and fifth grade in the Sutherlin School District for 10 years before becoming Fremont’s assistant principal in August 2019.
Green Elementary School
Tammy Rasmussen, current principal at Melrose Elementary School, will take on the role of principal at Green Elementary School. Rasmussen obtained her Bachelor of Arts at Western Oregon University, and Master of Arts at Concordia University. Rasmussen has been with the district since 1998. Before becoming principal of Melrose Elementary School in 2016, Rasmussen worked as Oregon Response to Instruction and Intervention (RTI) Implementation Coach, Instructional Coach, Learning Specialist and taught kindergarten, first, third, fourth, and fifth grades.
Hucrest Elementary School
Jennifer Thompson, current principal at Eastwood Elementary School, will take on the role of principal at Hucrest Elementary School. Principal Don Schrader is retiring at the end of this school year. Thompson obtained her Bachelor of Arts at the University of Oregon, Master of Arts at Southern Oregon University, and completed her Administration Program at Concordia University. Thompson has been the principal of Eastwood Elementary School since 2018. Before becoming an administrator, Thompson taught Language Arts at North Medford High School before joining the district in 2006 as Language Arts Teacher and the District Librarian and Media Specialist at Roseburg High School.
Melrose Elementary School
Darin Lomica, current assistant principal at Joseph Lane Middle School, will take on the role of principal of Melrose Elementary School. Lomica obtained his Bachelor’s in Elementary Education at Western Oregon University, Master of Arts at Grand Canyon University, and completed his Administration Program with Concordia University. Lomica has been with the district since 1999. Prior to becoming Assistant Principal of Jo Lane Middle School in 2018, Lomica taught fourth, fifth, and sixth grade at Melrose Elementary. Before coming back to Roseburg, Lomica taught for four years at Riley Creek Elementary School in Gold Beach.
Fremont Middle School
Randal Olsen, current assistant principal at Roseburg High School, will take on the role of assistant principal at Fremont Middle School. Olsen obtained his Bachelor and Master of Science at Oregon State University, and completed his Educational Administration Program at Lewis and Clark College. Olsen previously worked in Morrow County School District where he taught Physical Education, and moved into administration as Head Teacher and the Director of Alternative Education. Olsen joined Roseburg School District as Alternative Education Coordinator from 2016 to 2018, then became the principal of Rose Alternative School until 2021, when he became an assistant principal at Roseburg High School.
Office of Student Services
Lisa Dickover, current principal at Green Elementary School, will take on the role of coordinator for the Office of Student Services. Dickover obtained her Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts in Teaching at Oregon State University, and completed her Administration Program at the University of Oregon. Dickover began her teaching career in the Winston-Dillard School District as an elementary teacher, and joined Roseburg School District in 2012 teaching second grade at Fir Grove Elementary, and became Fir Grove’s principal in 2014. Dickover became principal at Green Elementary School in 2021.
Joseph Lane Middle School
