As the NBA evolves, the point guard position evolves with it.
Before, the league’s point guards had a straightforward job description. They were floor generals. The point guard was responsible for setting up his teammates, and only scoring when absolutely necessary.
Those days are long ago. Now, we’re in an age of score-first point guards. Many of them are still dynamic passers, but most of the league’s best point guards are at least capable of calling their own number as well.
D’Angelo Russell is not necessarily one of the league’s best point guards. Kyle Lowry isn’t anymore, either.
At the same time, they’re both capable contributors that teams would be lucky to have.
Could they switch teams this season?
