Rob Ninkovich probably isn’t welcome at Tom Brady’s retirement party, whenever that might happen.

Ninkovich was teammates with Brady when the two played for the New England Patriots. The former linebacker now works as an ESPN NFL analyst and during Friday’s appearance on the Keyshawn, JWill, and Max show he said that he had texted the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback but didn’t receive a very warm response.

“Is Tom trying to win another Super Bowl or is he going home to hang out with the family?” Johnson asked Ninkovich.

“I’ve been trying to investigate that… I’ve been trying to get some info out of that and I’m not getting anywhere with that,” Ninkovich said, while laughing. “And then I tried to be nice and just you know, hit up a friend and be like, ‘Hey man, great season. I hope you’re recovering… you finished well, you still got it.’

“And he responds: ‘Not according to your hard-hitting analysis.’”

After the group shared a laugh over the text, Ninkovich added that “I was trying to be nice… Now I’m trying to think back, like what did I say bad?”

It’s not hard to imagine Brady is feeling a bit sensitive these days. He’s coming off of a pretty harsh season that ended with his first-ever losing record. Not to mention all of the off-field drama he’s been dealing with. He also appears to be paying a little too much attention to the speculation about him in the media, which is a bad idea all around.
