Toledo police officers fatally shot a man Wednesday night after a 911 call from a woman reported that her husband was shooting a gun, and that she too may have possibly been shot at a house on the 5700 block of Hill Avenue.
TPD stated that officers arrived on scene and contact was made with the suspect, 47-year old Jason Means, who was now outside the house and armed with what was later determined to be a shotgun.
Police stated that after they attempted to deescalate the situation, Means “eventually began walking towards officers, raised, and then pointed the shotgun at them.”
Police then fired on Means. He was pronounced deceased on scene.
The cause of death reported by the Lucas County Coroner's Office was 22 gunshot wounds involving the head, torso, left arm and left and right legs.
Police shared in a media release that "the caller and her adult son escaped to the roof of the residence. The caller further advised that her husband was having a mental breakdown." They were unharmed.
