CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The state Fire Marshal’s Office said two people died in separate fires that last two days in the Mountain State.
A 74-year-old woman died in a Thursday night blaze on 3rd Street in Shinnston.
Shinnston Fire Chief Donnie Lindsey said units fromĀ found the front and rear of the single-story home fully involved upon arrival.
“There was entrapment, and there was a fatality,” Lindsey said. “It’s under investigation by the Shinnston Fire Department, the West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Shinnston Police Department.”
Lindsey said there is no initial indication as to what caused the fire but the residence is likely a total loss.
“We had it (the fire) under control in about 45 minutes and we were on the scene until about 4 a.m. Friday,” Lindsey said.
The state Fire Marshal’s Office said the cause of the fire is undetermined but likely accidental.
Oak Hill fire claims life
State fire investigators also report a 46-year-old woman died in a house fire Wednesday on Victory Street in Oak Hill.
The fire has been ruled undetermined. There were no working smoke alarms in the home.
There have been four lives claimed by fire in West Virginia this week including a double fatal fire Monday in Martinsburg.
