Around 2:30 p.m., Avondale police received a call reporting a body spotted along the Gila River near the Phoenix Raceway. Details are limited, but police went to the scene, found the area to be in county jurisdiction, and passed the investigation on to MCSO officials who are currently on the scene.

Tumbleweed, a Great Pyrenees mix, was brought to AHS’ trauma center by a technician who spotted the young pup stuck in a cactus. AHS discovered Tumbleweed’s fur was entangled in many cactus burrs and spines, and the team needed to shave his long fur in order to remove them all.

Police say they were called to a shooting around 11:45 p.m. Friday near 52nd Street and Broadway Road. Investigators say the car, with one adult and six minors inside, was driving along 52nd Street when another vehicle pulled alongside and started shooting at them. Multiple bullets hit three of the minors inside the vehicle, and the car quickly took off before officers arrived.
