Jay Leno’s Bad Luck Streak Continues: His CNBC Show Just Got Canceled Hours After Breaking 2 Ribs in a Motorcycle Fall

Jay Leno‘s 2022 troubles are carrying into the new year, After being hospitalized for injuring his face in a garage fire in November, the comedian broke two bones after falling off his motorcycle Jan. 17  –  and now his future on NBC has been jeopardized. While chatting with the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Leno opened up about the latest accident. The interviewer posed a question about the garage fire – which required him to undergo skin grafts and receive treatment in a hyperbaric chamber – and Leno responded, “It’s so funny you should say that,” before launching into the details about the motorcycle fall. “Just last week, I got knocked off my motorcycle. So I’ve got a broken collarbone,” he said. “I’ve got two broken ribs. I’ve got two cracked kneecaps.” The comedian insisted that he’s “OK” and has already been back to work. Leno gave details on the crash, stating that he turned down a side street and into a parking lot where a guy had a “wire strung across the parking lot” without a flag. “I didn’t see it until it was too late. It just clothesline me and, boom, knocked me off the bike.” Leno added, “The bike kept going, and you know how that works out.” The comedian’s incident in November garnered plenty of media attention, which led him to stay mum about the latest one. He told the Review-Journal, “You know, after getting burned up, you get that one for free. After that, you’re Harrison Ford, crashing airplanes. You just want to keep your head down.” During the garage fire, one of Leno’s cars suddenly erupted and badly burned the left side of his face. At the time, he stated that he “got some serious burns from a gasoline fire,” and needed “a week or two” for recovery. Unfortunately, Leno’s physical injuries aren’t the only thing keeping the comedian down. A  source told The Hollywood Reporter yesterday that Leno’s time at longtime TV home NBCUniversal is coming to end as his reality show Jay Leno’s Garage has been canceled. The show, which premiered on CNBC in 2015, wrapped its seventh season in last fall. Leno has been an NBC fixture for 30 years; in addition to Jay Leno’s Garage, the comedian hosted NBC’s The Tonight Show from 1992 until 2009 and was succeeded by Conan O’Brien, who left after a short stint. Leno continued on to host The Jay Leno Show on the network from 2009 until 2010.
