NFL world reacts to shocking claims against league

By Kevin Harrish,

After Steve Wilks was named the Carolina Panthers interim head coach following the firing of former head coach Matt Rhule , it was assumed that he would be the frontrunner for the full-time position during the offseason after a stellar performance. Instead, the team hired Frank Reich , and it sounds like Wilks and his legal team does not think the move was just about football.

Following the news that Steve Wilks would not be hired as the team’s full-time head coach, his attorneys’ office released a firm and bold statement expressing shock and disappointment that Wilks was passed over as the team’s full-time head coach, and claimed “there is a legitimate race problem in the NFL”

It was quite a bold claim from Wilks’ legal team, and the NFL world had plenty to say about it on Twitter as a result.

Even outside of this claim, Wilks is in the midst of an ongoing racial discrimination suit against the NFL and several teams that was initially filed on behalf of former Miami Dolphins coach Brian Flores.

Wilks is certainly not the only one to speak out against discrimination in the NFL. A few months ago, legendary former NFL head coach Tony Dungy gave his thoughts on the lack of Black head coaches in the league, and former All-Pro running back LaDainian Tomlinson revealed why he believes Black coaches aren’t hired in the league.
