WHITE PLAINS - A Westchester County grand jury has indicted a Mount Vernon man who was the driver in a 2021 crash in which two people died and a third was seriously injured.

Westchester County District Attorney Mimi Rocah said Anthony Rose, 20, was indicted on two counts of second-degree manslaughter, two counts of criminally negligent homicide and one count of second-degree assault, all felonies, and third-degree assault and reckless driving, both misdemeanors.

According to Rocah, shortly before 5:30 a.m. on Dec. 18, 2021, Rose was driving in excess of 100 mph on the Cross County Parkway in Mount Vernon with three passengers in the car. His headlights were off and he did not have a license. Rocah said Rose nearly hit one car and then struck a second, before crashing head-on into a tree.

Noelina Pantaleone, 20, of Mount Vernon, died at the scene. Another passenger, Harry Jonathan Hurst, 19, was taken to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx, where he remained with a traumatic brain injury until he died on March 7, 2022.

A third passenger, Nyaquae Henderson, 20, of Mount Vernon, was taken to a hospital and treated for a traumatic brain injury, and is still undergoing rehabilitative treatment.

The Westchester County Department of Public Safety arrested Rose on Thursday. He was arraigned before Westchester County Court Judge George Fufidio and is being held in Westchester County Jail, in lieu of $50,000 cash bail, $100,000 bond or $250,000 partially secured bond, pending further court action.

"This defendant's alleged reckless and dangerous behavior cost two people their lives and severely injured another," Rocah said in a statement. "My office remains committed to fully and thoroughly investigating vehicular fatalities and prosecuting drivers who jeopardize the safety of our roadways."
