Former NCIS star Scottie Thompson has landed her next movie role.

The actress, who played Jeanne Benoit on the show, has joined the cast of Séance, a psychological thriller by Vivian Kerr.

As reported by Deadline, Thompson will join Connor Paolo and Better Call Saul's Jilon VanOver in the cast, with Kerr also set to star in the film.

The script for Séance was named one of the best unproduced screenplays from a female writer last year on the Wscripted Cannes Screenplay List, which celebrates work by women and non-binary writers.

The film is reported to be set in 1890s California, and sees Thompson play a novelist who's keen on rekindling her romance with her first husband (VanOver).

Paolo will assume the role of Thompson's current husband, a struggling painter who holds a number of secrets. Kerr, whose character claims to be haunted by her deceased child, will play the current wife of VanOver's character.

Thompson played Jeanne on NCIS in a recurring capacity, appearing in 16 episodes between 2006 and 2016. The police procedural show is currently in its 20th season, with the show returning from its mid-season break on January 9.

The franchise recently aired its huge crossover event, which saw the parent show combine with spin-offs NCIS: Los Angeles and NCIS: Hawai'i for a three-hour special.

Vanessa Lachey, who plays Jane Tennant on the latter show, recently expressed her excitement at the viewing figures for the event, describing the fans as "incredible".

Despite the success, it was recently announced that Los Angeles would be ending after the current season, with CBS president Amy Reisenbach saying: "For 14 seasons, NCIS: Los Angeles has been a stalwart of our lineup with characters who were a joy to watch.

"It's no surprise this show succeeded as a global franchise," she continued.

"From day one, the cast, producers and crew were amazing Network/Studios partners, and their teamwork, talent and spirit vividly came through on the screen."

There is currently no release date for Séance. NCIS airs on CBS in the US. Seasons 1-19 are streaming on Disney+ in the UK.
