Carthage man arrested for methamphetamine possession, 3 others arrested

Carthage, Ill.-  The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrests of multiple individuals on multiple charges.

According to a news release, on Wednesday, January 25th, at about 9:08 PM, Hancock County deputies conducted a traffic stop at the corner of Buchanan Street and Marion Street in Carthage.

The driver, Jeffery Schofield of Carthage was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and obstructing justice.

At about 9:20 PM, deputies executed a search warrant at Scofield’s residence at 303 Hansford in Carthage.  At the residence, about 106 grams of methamphetamine was located.  Schofield was subsequently charged with possession of over 100 grams of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver.

Three other individuals were arrested at the residence:

Michael J. Miller of Carthage was arrested on a failure to appear/failure to pay warrant from McDonough County.

Isaac A Deshong of Carthage was arrested on a Lee County Iowa warrant for delivery of a controlled substance.

Susan E. Veach of Carthage was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both Schofield and Deshong are on parole with the Illinois Department of Corrections.
