KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City, Missouri, police say two people were shot inside a home near the 3400 block of Chestnut.
Officers were called to the area around 12:30 a.m. on a shooting call.
When police arrived, they located several people inside a residence including an unresponsive man with gunshot wounds and a woman shooting victim.
Emergency medical services declared the man deceased at the scene.
Police identified the victim as Mark Young, 31.
The woman was transported to an area hospital to be treated for her injuries, which KCPD describes as non-life-threatening.
Police say initial investigation indicates the shooting happened inside the home after a verbal altercation turned violent.
It is believed likely more than one person fired a weapon that struck the victims.
Multiple persons of interest have been detained, and KCPD is not looking for any additional suspects.
