It's just days before Christmas in east Baltimore.
Police say a man, who they identified as Darryl Crawford, 27, walks into a Walgreens Pharmacy near Johns Hopkins Hospital.
“People inside the store recognized him as a known shoplifter,” said Mat Silverman, Deputy Chief with the US Marshals Service.
Investigators say a security guard tells Crawford he can’t come into the store, but Crawford is determined to not leave empty-handed.
According to police, Crawford pushes past the guard and picks up diapers, nutrition drunks, and a humidifier before he’s again confronted by the security guard and store manager.
“Crawford demanded they step aside and revealed a knife in the waistband of his pants,” said Silverman.
Crawford flees the scene and hasn’t been seen since officials say.
“We’re seeing these shoplifting cases more and more and more and more and they're becoming violent,” said Silverman. “People do not want to get caught and if somebody gets in their way they’re going to do anything that they need to get out.”
Anyone with information concerning Crawford’s whereabouts is asked to contact the US Marshals Service at 1-877-WANTED-2 or direct at 202-819-5058.
