STILL HANGING ON. >> NO PLATES. NO LICENSE. SMELLS OF MARIJUANA. >> ALRIGHTY. REPORTER: ON AN OCTOBER AFTERNOON NEAR 84TH & GREENFIELD A WEST ALLIS POLICE , OFFICER HAD JUST PULLED OVER A SILVER CHEVY MALIBU WITHOUT A LICENSE PLATE. AS HE WALKS TO THE DRIVER’S SIDE OF THE CAR HIS PARTNER’S BODY , CAMERA VIDEO PARTIALLY SHOWS WHAT HAPPENED NEXT. >> WHAT ARE YOU DOING? >> 26, THE CAR IS TAKING OFF. IT’S GOING SOUTHBOUND ON 84. REID, YOU OK? COME HERE. ARE YOU OK? GET UP. 26, SEND A MEDICAL RIGHT AWAY. OFFICER INJURIES. REPORTER: A POLICE REPORT SAYS THE DRIVER DRAGGED THE OFFICER 15 FEET BEFORE PUSHING HIM OUT OF THE MOVING VEHICLE. THE TWO STAYED AT THEIR LOCATION WHILE OTHER OFFICERS CHASED DOWN THAT DRIVER. THE CAR CHASE ENDED RIGHT HERE AT 64TH AND GREENFIELD WHEN THE DRIVER ENDED UP CRASHING INTO MULTIPLE CARS. HE THEN GETS OUT OF HIS CAR AND STARTS RUNNING. >> LOOKS LIKE IT JUST CRASHED, POSSIBLY CRAFT. THEY ARE RUNNING. REPORTER: AS POLICE INTERVIEWED CRASH VICTIMS. >> LIKE HE WAS TRYING TO COME THIS WAY AND GET OUT OF THE WAY. HE JUST SMASHED INTO ME. REPORTER: OTHERS ARRESTED THE SUSPECT, 19-YEAR-OLD KENNETH GRADY JUNIOR. THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY’S OFFICE SERVED HIM WITH RECKLESSLY ENDANGERING SAFETY , ELUDING POLICE AND THREE , COUNTS OF HI

WISN 12 News obtained video of a driver taking off while an officer is still holding on to his car

Video WISN 12 News obtained through a public records request shows the moment a driver dragged a West Allis police officer approximately 15 feet with his car. It happened in October near South 84th Street and West Greenfield Avenue. A West Allis police officer had just pulled over a silver Chevy Malibu without license plates. He walked to the driver's side of the car, and his partner's body camera video partially showed the car take off. A police report said the driver dragged the officer several feet before pushing him out of the moving vehicle. "The car is taking off! It's going southbound on 84. Reid, you OK? Come here. Come here. Are you OK? Get up! 26, send a medical right away. Officer injuries," his partner yelled during the incident. Those two stayed at their location, tending to the officer's injuries while other police officers chased down the driver. The car chase ended at South 64th Street and West Greenfield Avenue. The driver crashed into multiple cars. Police said he then got out of his car and started running. Police were able to catch up with the suspect. They identified him as 19-year-old Kenneth Grady Jr.The Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office charged him with recklessly endangering safety, eluding police and three counts of hit-and-run. Grady is out on bond right now, awaiting trial. The officer suffered minor injuries to his knee and back.No crash victims suffered any injuries.
