Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) is introducing their new Center for Reproductive Health Equity.
Last year's rollback of Roe v. Wade protections caused abortion services to become inaccessible in more than a dozen states. OHSU acknowledged that the change disproportionately impacts low-income communities and already marginalized communities.
The new center looks to provide reproductive health services to everyone, including educational information to those out of state.
The center looks to ensure a person's right to make decisions about their health without being limited by race, ethnicity, sexual identity, or socioeconomic status.
“We're concerned about the issues of reproductive justice more broadly. So it is about abortion access, and that's under threat across the United States, but it's also about maternal health, access to infertility services, gender affirming care and more,” said Maria Rodriguez of the OHSU School of Medicine.
The center is housed in the OHSU Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
