Theft: Mayfield Road

KFC management reported Jan. 17 that an undisclosed amount of money had been stolen from the store’s safe.

Surveillance video showed an unknown male suspect entering the store during the morning hours, opening the safe and taking money. The incident is under investigation.

Theft from vehicle: Harwood Road

A resident reported Jan. 23 that a window on her vehicle had been smashed and items were stolen from inside.

She reported nearly $3,000 worth of items stolen, including a computer tablet, a Louis Vuitton purse, a backpack and a pair of shoes.

Disorderly conduct: Greenway Road

Two landscapers got into an altercation while working at a residence Jan. 19. One man, 39, said the other man, 41, had struck him in the face.

Due to conflicting stories, a report was filed and sent to the prosecutor for review and potential charges.

Theft: Warrensville Center Road

Walmart loss prevention reported Jan. 17 that a woman had been detained for theft but was refusing to identify herself.

Responding officers identified her as a 42-year-old Cleveland resident and cited her for the $129 theft.

Theft: Mayfield Road

An East Cleveland man, 63, bagged groceries at Giant Eagle Jan. 19, then tried to leave the store without making payment.

He was stopped without incident and found to have stolen $182 worth of groceries. He was cited for theft and found to have a warrant in the city for another theft offense.

Impaired driving: Bayard Road

A vehicle went off the roadway, struck a tree and landed upside down around 5:30 a.m. Jan. 21. The driver was trapped inside as a result and had to be extracted by first responders.

The 52-year-old woman was subsequently taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and was later charged with OVI.

Domestic violence: Monticello Boulevard

A woman was struck in the face at her home by her live-in boyfriend Jan. 22. She said he also threatened to kill her and her disabled brother.

The man, 63, was subsequently charged with two counts of domestic violence.

Aggravated menacing: Bayard Road

A woman reported Jan. 19 that a family member had fired a gun near her into the lawn at a residence. She said he did not point the gun at her, but that she was afraid of him.

Aggravated menacing charges were filed against the 26-year-old Garfield Heights man.

Suspicion: South Belvoir Boulevard

Around 10:30 p.m. Jan. 20, officers responded to a report of a man possibly throwing trash cans into the roadway near the Mayfield Road intersection.

They found two trash cans in the roadway and located the man, who was the subject of two previous complaints.

The Cleveland man, 42, was drunk and had an open bottle of liquor. He was subsequently arrested for disorderly conduct.

Stolen vehicle: Campus Drive

A resident reported Jan. 21 that her vehicle had been stolen out of her open garage. The keys had been left in the vehicle overnight.
